An Exhibition Where Narratives Became Visual Memory Presented by Art4you Gallery and Curated by Jesno Jackson

Dubai’s contemporary art scene recently welcomed HER STORY – A Tribute to Women, Edition 2- an international group exhibition presented by Art4you Gallery and curated by Jesno Jackson at Art Smiley Art Gallery. More than a thematic showcase on women, the exhibition unfolded as an emotional landscape where memory, identity, resilience, transformation, and lived experiences found expression through visual language.
Rather than positioning women merely as subjects of representation, HER STORY approached womanhood as a layered and evolving experience. The exhibition transformed the gallery into a space of dialogue where artworks moved beyond aesthetics to become vessels of personal histories, cultural narratives, emotional reflection, and collective memory.

Across the gallery, visitors encountered works that explored inner emotional worlds through painting, installation, mixed media, abstraction, and figurative expression. Themes of vulnerability and strength coexisted throughout the exhibition. Delicate visual elements sat beside powerful symbolic forms; organic textures interacted with contemporary compositions; and silence itself appeared as a recurring visual motif. The exhibition presented women not through fixed identities, but as beings continuously shaped by memory, migration, belonging, loss, growth, and transformation. Some works revisited childhood and emotional inheritance, translating memory into poetic visual landscapes. Others reflected on displacement, movement across cultures, and the feeling of existing between places and identities. Figurative works merged with botanical symbolism, while abstract compositions explored emotional energy through colour, geometry, and layered textures. Sculptural and installation pieces extended these conversations into physical space, inviting viewers to move through emotions rather than simply observe them.

The curatorial narrative successfully balanced intimacy with universality. Individual stories retained their uniqueness while contributing to a broader multicultural dialogue. The exhibition demonstrated how contemporary art can become a bridge between personal experience and shared human understanding. The exhibition featured 21 artists from 16 nationalities, reflecting the international and multicultural spirit of Dubai’s creative ecosystem.

Participating artists included: Cristina Gabriela - Romania, Vasilisa Eliseeva – Russia, Seungeun Cho – Korea, Natasha Boshoff – South Africa, Roya Vahidi, Shaghayegh Rabiei & Shakiba Rabiei – Iran, Tina Azar – Lebanon, Szilvia Viczian – Hungary, Karoline Denisha – Britain, Reem Alsuby – Saudi Arabia, Yashi Khatanhar, Thomas Antony, Neethu George, Aimee George – India, Labiba Ferhat – Algeria, Roksana Zhamkochyan – Armenia, Perihan Marwan – Egypt, RickNibert Balingan – Philippines, Veinna Fouad – Syria and Eric Afranie – Ghana The opening evening welcomed artists, collectors, cultural supporters, media representatives, and art enthusiasts into an immersive gallery environment where artistic exchange became central to the experience. Adding a distinctive personal element to the event were customised artist portrait mugs featuring caricatures created by artist Rick Nibert Balingan. These artistic keepsakes created meaningful interactions between artists and visitors, extending the exhibition experience beyond the gallery walls.

Sustainability also found its place within HER STORY. Floral arrangements specially customised by sustainability partner Green Revolution DXB introduced a thoughtful layer of environmental consciousness, echoing themes of growth, regeneration, and the organic strength reflected throughout the exhibition. Curated by Jesno Jackson and presented by Art4you Gallery, HER STORY – A Tribute to Women, Edition 2 ultimately positioned art as more than visual presentation. It became a space of emotional encounter, one where stories were not simply told, but experienced. Through its multicultural participation and contemporary visual narratives, the exhibition reaffirmed art’s ability to create dialogue, connection, and cultural exchange while contributing meaningfully to Dubai’s evolving artistic landscape.
