Open Call: Flame Tree Season Photography Competition – Capturing Dubai in Bloom

Every year, Dubai is transformed by the fiery beauty of the Flame Tree. Its vibrant red-orange blossoms ignite streets, parks, and neighborhoods with color, creating one of the city's most spectacular natural displays. To celebrate this fleeting season, Dubai Culture, in collaboration with the Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum International Photography Award (HIPA), has launched the Flame Tree Season Photography Competition, inviting residents and visitors alike to capture the essence of this remarkable phenomenon through photography.

The competition encourages participants to explore the relationship between nature and urban life, documenting the beauty of the Flame Tree from fresh and creative perspectives. Whether through sweeping landscapes, intimate details of the blossoms, or human interactions with these striking trees, photographers are invited to tell visual stories that celebrate one of Dubai's most beloved seasonal sights.

Participation is simple. Entrants are asked to photograph the Flame Tree season, post their image on a public Instagram account, use the hashtag #FlameTreeSeason, follow @dubaiculture, @hipaae, and @flametreeseason, and tag all three accounts in their post. Each participant may submit one entry, while previously published photographs may also be reshared provided they comply with the competition requirements.

Beyond the opportunity to win valuable prizes, the competition offers a chance to contribute to a collective visual archive of Dubai's natural beauty. As the city's avenues burst into shades of scarlet and gold, photographers are invited to pause, observe, and share their unique vision of a season that lasts only for a moment but leaves a lasting impression.
