Her Highness Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and Māori Queen Meet to Strengthen UAE–New Zealand Cultural Cooperation
Dubai, UAE — Her Highness Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairperson of the Dubai Culture and Arts Authority, welcomed Her Majesty Ngā Wai Hono i te Po, the Māori Queen of New Zealand, during her official visit to Dubai.
The meeting highlighted the commitment of both nations to strengthening cultural dialogue and exploring new areas of cooperation between the peoples of the UAE and New Zealand.
Discussions focused on ways to deepen cultural and creative ties, with both leaders emphasizing the importance of heritage preservation, artistic collaboration, and community engagement. The talks also explored opportunities within the framework of the UAE–New Zealand Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA), underlining culture as a key driver of sustainable international partnerships.
Sheikha Latifa was accompanied by Her Excellency Maryam Al Hammadi, Minister of State and Secretary General of The UAE Cabinet, and Her Excellency Huda Al Hashimi, Deputy Minister of Cabinet Affairs for Strategic Affairs, as well as other senior officials.
The Māori Queen was joined by His Excellency Richard Kay, New Zealand’s Ambassador to the UAE, along with senior representatives from the Kingiitanga (Māori Monarchy Movement) and the New Zealand Embassy in Abu Dhabi.
The visit reaffirmed the shared values between the UAE and New Zealand in promoting cultural understanding, heritage protection, and creative exchange as pathways to strengthening bilateral relations.
