Spirit of the Union: An Emirati Celebration Through Art
The Cultural & Scientific Association in Dubai is preparing to mark the UAE’s 54th National Day with a special celebration titled «عـ54ـاماً متحدون» (54 Years...United). On Monday, November 24, 2025, at 7:00 PM, the Nadwa headquarters in Al Mamzar, Dubai, will open its doors for an evening that brings together heritage, creativity, and the collective pride of a nation. Among the Emirati talents contributing to the exhibition is artist Faeezah Mohammed, whose featured artwork offers a striking tribute to the spirit and unity of the Emirates.

Faeezah Mohammed: An Artist of Identity and Memory
Emirati artist Faeezah Mohammed is widely recognized for her ability to translate the essence of Emirati life into visual form. Her paintings often explore the rhythms of daily life, the textures of heritage, and the emotional landscapes woven through the country’s rapid transformation. For this year’s National Day exhibition, she presents a new work titled “Spirit of the Union.”
The piece stands out not only for its vibrant energy but also for its dialogue with global art history. Faeezah draws inspiration from Claude Monet’s “Rue Montorgueil with Flags”, a celebrated impressionist depiction of patriotic celebration in France. Instead of recreating Monet’s Parisian scene, she reimagines its emotional core—collective joy and national pride—through an Emirati lens.

Depicting a Nation in Celebration
Spirit of the Union transforms the festive street of Monet’s Paris into the heart of Dubai. The viewer is transported to a wide avenue overflowing with celebration:
Crowds dressed in traditional Emirati attire—men in kanduras, women in abayas—move as one unified wave.
Dozens of UAE flags sweep across the canvas, their movement echoing the sense of shared belonging.
The Burj Khalifa rises in the distance, anchoring the scene in a symbol of modern national achievement.
The palette, brushwork, and density of movement pay homage to Monet’s original composition, yet the cultural identity is distinctly and proudly Emirati.
Faeezah’s work captures not only an event but a national sentiment: unity, continuity, and the emotional resonance of National Day. It is a celebration of heritage as a living force—something carried in people’s hands, steps, and voices.
The Exhibition: A Gathering of Creative Voices
The event titled 54 Years...United represents more than a commemoration—it is a collective expression of creativity from Emirati artists. The exhibition presents various works that explore memory, tradition, and contemporary life, all converging to honor the UAE’s journey since 1971.
Hosted at the Cultural & Scientific Association, the evening will include a formal opening of the visual art exhibition, providing space for artists and visitors to engage with the country’s cultural narrative.
Preserving Heritage Through Contemporary Art
Faeezah Mohammed’s participation reflects the important role of artists in preserving and re-imagining national identity. Her painting becomes part of the collective memory of the UAE’s National Day—linking the artistic past of the world with the vibrant present of the Emirates.
Through Spirit of the Union, she reinforces a key idea: heritage is not static. It evolves with every generation that chooses to celebrate it, protect it, and express it visually, musically, or through any form of artistic devotion.
