The Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi) has unveiled Treasured Sayings, a landmark publication dedicated to preserving and celebrating the poetic legacy of the UAE's Founding Father, His Highness Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. Published by the internationally renowned luxury publisher Assouline, the collection offers readers an intimate look into one of the most influential voices in the nation's history.

Bringing together 118 carefully selected poems, including 75 translated into English, Treasured Sayings makes Sheikh Zayed's literary heritage more accessible to a global audience while preserving the authenticity of his poetic expression. The anthology reflects timeless themes that defined both his leadership and his vision for the United Arab Emirates: compassion, humanity, unity, belonging, respect for tradition, and love for the land.

The poems are thoughtfully organised according to the rhyme scheme of each opening verse, offering readers a unique way to explore the richness of classical Emirati poetic traditions. Beyond the printed volume, the project embraces modern accessibility through a digital edition, professionally recorded audio recitations, and a comprehensive glossary of Emirati dialect vocabulary inspired by Sheikh Zayed's poetry.

Speaking on the significance of the publication, His Excellency Mohamed Khalifa Al Mubarak, Chairman of DCT Abu Dhabi, described Treasured Sayings as more than a book—it is a cultural responsibility. He emphasised that preserving Sheikh Zayed's poetic voice ensures that future generations remain connected to the values upon which the UAE was built: tolerance, generosity, unity, and shared humanity.

The publication is the result of collaboration between DCT Abu Dhabi, the Founder's Office at the Presidential Court, and the Arabic Language Centre, reflecting a national commitment to safeguarding the country's literary and cultural heritage.

More than simply documenting poetry, Treasured Sayings reinforces Abu Dhabi's growing reputation as a global centre for culture, literature, and heritage preservation. By presenting Sheikh Zayed's words to international audiences, the publication serves as both a tribute to the nation's founding vision and an invitation to discover the depth and beauty of Emirati literary traditions.

At a time when cultural preservation is increasingly important, Treasured Sayings stands as a remarkable example of how history, literature, and innovation can come together to ensure that the wisdom of the past continues to inspire future generations.
